Ceramic decals were hand drawn, silk screened/printed, and applied to factory porcelain pieces.  The following pieces are from a workshop I took over the summer (2013).

Bird Paintings

A favorite medium is hard for me to pick.  I love so many different things.  I usually go through phases but I truly am a mixed media person.  I used to think I would be a photographer, a potter, a painter, etc...  But why pick one when you can use them all.  Lately my work has been done with Paint, Collage, and Photography.  It revolves around connections between humans and birds.

Last Breath Photography

The next series of photographs came about from finding dead birds that were still beautiful.  Thanks to some former students I was able to complete my idea.  I asked them to lay as if they were sleeping.  Comfortable and peaceful.  I placed a piece of fabric coming from their mouth to represent the last breath you take before you pass on.  This fabric also correlates with the bright colors coming from my bird paintings above.  When editing my photos I concentrated on bringing out specific colors and darks.  Then I started playing with reflections.  It changed the space and geometrical plane they were laying in.  It gave them a floating quality that really plays with your eye.  Thank you Faith, Regan, and Alex!
